Just had to Share...

Typically I don't like to post cards that use products you can no longer order, but I just had to share this one. Yesterday afternoon I was busy cranking out cards for the Horseshoe Market this weekend when inspiration struck. This was the result. My hope is that the Thanks for Caring set will make its way into the new Idea Book & Catalog this summer (fingers crossed) & perhaps the Springtime Vintage paper will appear on the Clearance Rack one day? Then you WILL be able to get all the parts for this lovely card. I used my Scallop Edge Punch to create the fun medallion. You just need a 2 3/4" square of cardstock to make the dimensions work. Then I backed it with a bit of Baja Breeze. The base color is Not Quite Navy and I think this is my favorite use of it. I find ways to incorporate this color from time to time, but here it really is at its best. Embossing my butterfly in gold and adding just a touch of satin ribbon also make this card a stand out. Little bits of elegance make such a difference! So I hope you'll forgive the homage to the Occasions Mini Catalog here, but I couldn't keep this one to myself.

Two in One Challenge Card/ LBNL #2 & Mojo Monday 182

I don't usually combine challenges, but today's combo came naturally. I finished up my Mojo Monday before I headed out this morning...or so I thought! I added the little flower & small circle when I got home. Then I thought I was finished, so I took pictures and got ready to make my post. It just didn't look finished when I looked at my picture though. It needed something. At that point, the requirements for this month's Last But Not Least challenge came to mind: embossing folder, edge punch, designer paper, and a trio of brads. I had the embossing folder & designer paper take care of already & the something extra I needed ended up being the brads & boarder punch. Excellent! I'm much happier with the finished product & am so glad I took part of the card apart to get there! I've been wanting to add texture to designer paper & try embossing two pieces already glued together. I've seen lots of cards using this technique and really like what it adds to the card. You'll have to check it out in person to get the full effect, but I think you'll like it! Oh, and I got such a kick out of making glitter brads in class this week that I was excited to make a few more for this card. It's amazing what you can do with a little Heat and Stick Powder & Dazzling Diamonds Glitter!

Masculine Sympathy

I recently had a request for a masculine sympathy card. It was interesting to me because I had just ordered the "Thanks for Caring" set after being inspired by a masculine sympathy card. This image is very striking in all dark ink, but I wanted to try something a little bit different. The detail and symmetry seemed to work well with coloring in bits and pieces with markers. For the Crumb Cake layer, I used the Sanded back ground stamp to add a soft yet detailed feature to this simple card. The Twill Tape works nicely, but I'm really wishing that my Night of Navy Satin Ribbon was here already. It makes me really look forward to the ribbon share! Perhaps I'll change up this card as soon as it arrives. Remember to join in the ribbon share, you need to contact me by this Thursday.
