Pig Post It Holder

Tee Hee! I had such fun making this one. Winter Break is a great time for me to just play up in my studio. I've been wanting to make a Post It holder from an acrylic frame for years. It's so simple!! I just cut some Flirtatious Designer Paper to fit the frame, stamped & cut out my piggy, used my new Framelits Dies to make my sentiment snappy, and added one of the specialty doilies. Then, on the outside, I added the pig's google eyes & button nose. Taking the back sheet off the Post It pad makes it able to stick to my frame. As a last minute detail, I added a bit of bling with some rhinestones. Fast, easy, and a super good time. I have to admit, I giggled while making this one. It just makes me smile! So, pop on over to the dollar store to get a little frame and start making your own. It's good for us to remember that we can make more than just cards with our paper crafting skills! I think I'll take this little guy to work, so he can make me smile day after day...

Giraffe Baby Card

Okay, assuming all went well, I'm off on my European adventure. Never fear though...I have saved up a bunch of cards to share with you while I'm away. Perhaps I'll even check in now and then with some travel stories. :) Today's card is the first of those I'll share with you from my Quarterly Quarter party back in January. It's a fun event where I bring all my SU supplies downstairs and folks just play. We make cards with scraps & leftover bits and pieces. Much fun is had by all. That's a requirement! For this card, I grabbed a frame left over from making a Top Note (I save EVERYTHING) and used it as my starting point. The giraffe selection came next and it all just came together from there. I wanted a card that would work for either gender and I think the little flowers (bless my Itty Bitty Shapes punches) make that happen. A fun surprise card for me. That's what happens when I decide to start with one random piece--- I rarely know where it will take me!

Balloon Invite Take Two

I found it was sort of hard to create a second version of the balloon invite I made earlier. However, I wanted to make sure that my Bride-to-Be had some fairly different options to choose from. There were elements I needed to keep the same, but I made sure not to look back at what I had done the first round before making this one.

It's a totally different card, but includes all of the essential elements. At least this will give her some other ideas of where we could go. Of course, the final option could have bits and pieces of both or be completely different. We'll see! Such fun designing cards for such a specific event. I'm really enjoying this little adventure.

Candle Bag

It's so lovely to have all of my toys available to me again! I had fun with the "on the road challenge", but it's also great fun to know you can do whatever it is you think of with out considering which colors/punches/ribbon you have with you. This little bag is part of today's Bag Theme Class. It's both simple and fun. Just take two 5 1/2 squares and adhere them to the sides of a paper lunch sack that you've trimmed to 5 1/2 in length. Such a great size for little gifts and the lovely thing about gift bags is that they are often reused again and again. That way you get much more life out of our creation!

Blueberry Crisp Fun Fold

Such fun! This little card is a combination of new Designer Series Paper from the catalog and "create your own" designer paper. The new Blueberry Crisp DSP was a must have for me, whereas the same pattern in different colors (Razzleberry Lemonade) wasn't my favorite in the last catalog. Amazing what a color change can do! This card is super quick and simple, but I love the finished look. To make my stamped images multi-colored I just took out my trusty reinkers & a baby wipe to create my own ink pad. When the card opens the stamped flap just unhinges from the little circles to reveal the sentiment. Sometimes it's refreshing to switch things up a bit.

Best Friend/ Mojo Monday 143

Hmmm....my photography isn't stellar on this one, but I do like it in person. Imagine, if you will, that the background on the Pink Pirouette paper is actually a shimmery embossed deal & that it's not all bled out by extra light in the top corner. That's how things are actually. Oh, and the butterfly has great dimension thanks to a liberal helping of Crystal Effects. Much better, isn't it?

Color wise I found this one to be fun since it uses a color that I've really overlooked until now: Perfect Plum. It is one of the few Soft Subtles to survive the Color Renovation & it almost feels like a new color to me. I'm not sure why I didn't utilize it before, but I sure will now!

PPC #16/ Vintage Wallpaper Thank You

Whew! I spent all morning straightening up my studio and just stopped to give myself a little gift of time to create. Since I hadn't yet done my PPC Color Challenge for the week & since organizing all the new colors/weeding out the retiring ones was part of my job today, it felt great to make something using one of the new colors.

The color combo for this week is Regal Rose, Pacific Point, & Sahara Sand. At first, I was in a bit of a quandary because I wanted to let Sahara Sand take center stage, but I didn't know how to do that when all I had was the ink. Then, I remembered that it is a member of the new Neutrals family & I just got a pre-view pack of that paper. Having all of these new colors & returning In Colors is like having a big batch of new toys to play with! I can't wait to use them all & we can explore them together.

The Stork or An Albino Flamingo Friend

Last night one of my stampin' ladies needed to change her Flamingo Friend card into some sort of baby card. The only thing I could think of was the possibility of the flamingo magically becoming a stork. It worked really well for her! Mine still needs a little work, but I think the idea gets across, right?

I was excited to pair my new found friend with the Full of Life stamp set (new to me) and the XL Scallop Punch (new to SU). New babies, new stamps, new punch = all sorts of fun!
