Moving Truck

I know it's Monday, but I'm not going to even look at the Mojo Monday sketch until tomorrow. There's lots to do on this Memorial Day & I already had this little number ready and waiting. First off, though, may I wish you a happy and safe Memorial Day. I hope we'll all take a moment to remember those for whom today was dedicated. On our European Adventure I was struck by how much more real their war memorials seemed...somehow less forgotten than ours. Let us remember vividly as well.

In addition to the solemn reason behind this long weekend, it's also the start of summer! We kicked it off with a House Warming Party yesterday for our friends. Great fun was had by all. I created this card for them yesterday during our theme class. I never tire of the little Loads of Love set & have such fun loading it up with different bits from the Accessories pack. Too much fun. The colors were also a great fun surprise combo: Cajun Craze, Pear Pizzazz, & Bashful Blue. Have fun out there today & I'll try for a late Mojo tomorrow. :)

A New Take on an Old Friend

Loads of Love was one of my first favorites from Stampin' Up. I remember that I was very excited to find it came along with my demonstrator starter kit. I've used this little truck for Valentines, Christmas cards, birthdays, get wells, & more. I haven't done much with the extras found in the Loads of Love Accessories though & I just had to add some puppy friends to the truck bed. It ended up becoming quite the combination of stamp sets when I added in the paw print from C is for Cat (wow things would have been easier if I owned the P is for Paw wheel!) & a greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes. It makes for a full bin! This time, I colored in the truck using a Blender Pen & ink right of the ink pad. I also outlined with a Stampin' Write maker to give a little extra pop. Oh, and there was all sorts of Stamp-a-ma-jig going on to make sure the placement of each piece worked! Thank goodness for that little tool. I use it all the time. I sure hope the ladies at class tomorrow enjoy this one as much as I do.

Owl Mojo a Little Late

Okay, I'm not even going to dwell on the fact that my Mojo Monday didn't happen until Thursday. Sometimes life is just like that. :)

He's cute though, right? It's kind of funny that the stamp that I thought I would use the least out of Fox and Friends is the one that I used first. One never can tell. As soon as I saw the sketch from the folks over at Mojo Monday, I knew the little owl was destined to make an appearance along with the Woodland Walk designer paper. They are just an excellent combo. I also really like the effect created by rounding two opposite corners of a rectangle. It's often refreshing to switch things up just a tiny bit and sometimes I think I forget that when starting from a blank canvas. That's what Mojo Monday is for though. Sketch challenges take care of part of the problem/unknown for me and then let me play with the rest.

Technically it's still Monday, so I guess I'm in the clear for Mojo Monday. That's why I'm going to go ahead and post tonight instead of waiting for tomorrow morning. Silly, I know, but that's okay!

Such a cute sketch from the Mojo Ladies this week!! I had great fun making it. The only problem is, I dug out some great colors that I don't use very often (Creamy Caramel & Bordering Blue) and now I'm reminded that I will miss them when they're gone.

I've never tried the "Spotlight" technique before and really like the effect it creates. Granted, it would be even better if I had the "expansion pack" for the truck set and could add someone in the cab. It's fun this way too though and will make a nice addition to this month's masculine cards theme class.
